It’s been a while since my last post (6 weeks or thereabouts), a lag caused by a number of contributory factors.
First of all, I was out sick for a month, then the house FINALLY went through, now I’m about to made redundant (it’s been busy …) add to that the fact the new house doesn’t get broadband until w/c August 2 and my car went on the fritz again an dit all adds up to a whole lot to do and very little time to do it in.
At least we now have the house (fx: cheering, applause and trumpets). Things have gone fairly well so far, we have new flooring, we’ve moved from our previous hovel and Elly is having the time of her life getting everything into place. There is one small fly in the ointment in the form of our semi-feral, semi-house-trained cat Tom who has expressed his displeasure at having to move into new surrounding by conducting a series of drive-by-shittings over our brand new upstairs carpets. Oh how we laugh every time there’s an unpleasant odour from somewhere then spend ten minutes trying to find out what’s stained our brand new beige carpets …
On the good side I have a room dedicated to the gentle pursuit of videogames. So far it’s a bit bare, possessing only an XBox, PlayStation2, Gamecube, Dreamcast and a single sofa but with a bit of luck I’ll bang a couple of pictures on the walls, keep the lights turned on and crank up the volume on the stereo in order to enjoy Full Spectrum Warrior at maximum loudness settings – ahh the joys
As for the redundancy, I remain philosophical. It would be nice to walk straight into a new job somewhere, but I canlt help feeling taking a month or two out and sorting some private projects might be a very good idea …
