Iraq *yawn*

According to a BBC headline "Iraqis to close Borders during Polling period".I should think so too, voters should be electing a government not sipping lattes and flipping through a Jeffrey Archer in the comfort of their local bookstore ...Does anyone actually care about what happens in Iraq (other than the war-mongering half-wit Blair ?) .. anybody? ... anybody?

George Bush..

God bless George Bush, a recent news item on CNN shows he's stopped calling senator Ben Nelson by the hilarious nickname "Nellie", which pleases Sen Nelson immensely.

For a time, I considered changing the nickname I have for President Bush, but then I realised there was no point as "war-mongering, inbred, semi-literate, incompetent arsehole" sums him up ...

Welcome to 2005 .. apparently …
The family crussell have only recently returned for a weeks holiday in Les Vegas, home of fun, entertainment, gambling and a tour of the city’s medical facilities.

Unfortunately, Elly came over all poorly while we were in Vegas and we spent the whole of New Year’s Day in the emergency room and most of two other days touring the city visiting a variety of interesting medical establishments. To be fair we did say we wanted to see parts of the city that didn’t involve the Strip, but I’m not sure hospitals were part of our original remit.

Still, I did learn that US medical care is better than it is in England and that it’s also a whole lot more expensive – even though we did have medical insurance coverage I’m still not sure what’s covered and what we might have to pay for (I’m expecting a huge bill).

Still, the medical shenanigans aside (there’s more to it then meets the eye but the details will probably follow on in due course) we had a pretty good time. I managed to drop $130 out of a slot machine and we did get to see a pretty good show (Zoomania at New York New York) but the main part of our trip revolved around the InterNext webmaster show at the Mandalay Bay. At $250 a ticket it did promise much and managed, successfully, to deliver very little – we stayed for around four hours of the three day run and even that was over-long.

On the whole the trip was a washout but for the brief periods of time when things didn’t go wrong it was fun – one healthy tip for all Brits thinking of travelling over for New Year, the place is place is filled with brash, drunk Americans who delight in saying the word “fuck” a lot and using phrases like “that’s what I’m talking about”. To be quite honest I was interested in exactly what they were talking about but I do wish they’d do it a little quieter and without quite so much hootin’ and hollerin’ – but that’s just me…
