So, what do Amy Winehouse, Lindsey Lohan, Kate Moss and Pete Doherty all have in common?
Got it yet? Good! The correct answer is we should collectively stop giving a fuck about them (for the terminally hard of thinking they're also all drug addicts, allegedly).
It's time for us to draw a veil over the cult of celebrity and find something else to obsess about, as, when the dust clears, I think you'll find they're a bunch of sad-arses with nothing better to do them pump themselves full of illegal substances then expect the public to "get behind them" when they screw everything up and are forced publicly to attend an exclusive overly-expensive "retreat" so they can stay clean long enough to come out and start all over again.
It staggers me how these people get away with it over and over - Doherty for instance has been stopped by the police 15 times now and has a string of charges on the go almost exclusively drug-related. Oddly, he's never been jailed. Not. Once. Why?
Amy Winehouse is a dribbling wreck who we're supposed to feel sorry for because she cancels her commitments to the public who made her famous and gets off her face in the comfort of ... somewhere ...
Lindsey Lohan seems to be personally responsible for keeping drug dealers and car mechanics across LA in business and Kate Moss hoovers up Cocaine like it's going out of fashion and ends up with more big-name deals then ever before.
Exactly what is wrong with our society that we hold a bunch of drug-addled wasters as heroes? Where have we gone wrong? My own opinion is that 10+ years of Labour rule has kicked us squarely in the nuts. We spend more time worrying about the loons then we do about reasonable people, we make special exceptions for losers everywhere - nothing is anyone's fault any more, there's always someone faceless and nameless to blame.
Awww you have a drug problem - must be the pressures of success, shot someone in the face? poor you! must be a single parent family, running a highly lucrative sex and drugs ring? Obviously it was horrible living in Eastern Europe, so please don't do it again eh? there's a good lad.
After ten years of the grinning Blair we've lost the power to stand up to anyone, the country is just a weeping victim of pointless politicians who've abused their power to belittle and cow us into submission, it's pathetic.
If you'd like to argue about how great Labour are here's a few points which I believe support my viewpoint:
* Hundreds of soldiers murdered protecting countries we donlt give a shit about
* The daily gun murder of people across the UK
* Superbugs running wild through our hospitals
* The threat of closure for hospital facilities across the UK due to lack of adequate funding
* Cash for honours (after 18 months NO-ONE was guilty - how strange..)
* A deputy PM who assaults a man in public and gets away with it
* A deputy PM who didn't pay mandatory Council Tax for 10 years because "he didn't think he had to"
And the list goes on, and on, and on ...
Britain, develop some balls and stop taking this crap any longer, it looks likely that the odious Brown will declare a general election soon so exerciser your right and give us a change.
Mind you, with the invertebrate Cameron batting for the Tories they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything..
